Dylan The Determined- Fighting Ewing Sarcoma
Donation protected
Hello everyone! We are a group of friends, family, and business partners coming together to support this incredible 5 year old that is about to embark on a journey no child should ever face. Dylan is the youngest of 3 to Bryce and Teagan Olsen. She is quite literally the most strong willed, original, and silly kid you'll ever meet.
Dylan Olsen started kindergarten in September 2023, full of energy, excitement, and determination to make "all her classmates her best friend". She leaves no question that she is passionate about school. Little did she know in two short months, everything she knew as normal would be flipped on its head. She will not be outside playing, or attending school; she will be fighting for her childhood.
In mid-October, Dylan began complaining of pain in her leg. She was taken to a local doctor. After multiple x-rays, her doctors were convinced she needed to travel 2 hours to Children's Hopsital in Dallas for an emergency MRI. Doctors confirmed a tumor in her left fibula. After a biopsy was done just before Halloween, the results came back with news that no parent, or child should ever hear; Dylan has Ewing Sarcoma.
Ewing Sarcoma is a rare type of childhood cancer that occurs in bones or the soft tissue around the bones. Everyone was hoping Dylan's tumor was localized in her fibula and hadn't spread. Unfortunately, on Monday, November 13th, the Olsen's received the news that Dylan's cancer has spread to her lungs. Regardless of this, we are incredibly hopeful and optimistic. She’s a tough cookie. Dylan is determined to fight this.
The emotional strain that this has put on the family is immense, and will continue to escalate as sweet Dylan begins chemotherapy November 15th. Facing this challenging diagnosis, the Olsen family is bravely navigating a path they never anticipated. We all share in their pain, empathizing with the uncertainty and fear that a childhood cancer diagnosis brings. Despite the difficult journey ahead, Dylan continues to inspire us with her courage and unwavering spirit.
Financially, the family is going to have multiple needs: medical bills, treatments and related expenses, time off of work, additional funds for traveling and lodging, and more.
A daughter with cancer is hell enough, having to worry about the medical bills, regular monthly bills, and putting food on the table should not even be a concern. Mom and Dad's attention needs to be on Dylan and her two sisters.
We humbly ask for your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes. To our friends, family, community- please help this sweet girl and her family to overcome this terrible disease.
The chemo treatments are going to be extremely aggressive and long-
1- Chemo for 12 weeks
2- Local control (surgery, radiation, or both)
3- Chemo for 22 weeks
Their stays after each chemo treatment will range between 2-6 days each.
We intend to use this page, as well as her Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61553247314646) to update everyone on Dylan's fight, fundraising, and all other updates.
