The 2000 Challenge: A Walk For Recovery

Tax deductible
At one point in my life, I was unable to stop using drugs, and my deepest prayer was to be free from addiction. I needed help and I was desperately trying to get out of the hole I had found myself in. Now as I celebrate 2000 days of continuous sobriety, I feel extremely fortunate and grateful. I want to do for others what was done for me. Many people helped save my life. We simply cannot recover alone.

In the spirit of one addict helping another, I was inspired to create “The 2000 Challenge,” where I will attempt to walk from Dover, NJ to Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia in under 2000 minutes. “The 2000 Challenge” is a multifaceted mission: to generate vital funds for those battling addiction, heighten awareness of the ongoing fentanyl epidemic, celebrate the milestones of recovery, and honor the memory of lives lost to addiction. "The 2000 Challenge" also represents a personal test of resilience and determination, signifying the struggle and triumph over addiction.

Nothing would make me happier than to make an impact, and help another in the same way I was helped. Since 2016, we have lost over 500,000 lives to fentanyl. It’s truly an epidemic. One only needs to do a Google image search of “Kensington Avenue '' to witness the epicenter of this scourge. The human suffering is palpable and my aim is to walk right into the middle of it in an attempt to get one of our brothers or sisters off of the streets. I will be vlogging and promoting "The 2000 Challenge" on all of my “TheHumanJourney1” social-media accounts to raise awareness and the funds needed to get someone into treatment.

This is why I am calling on all of you...my friends, my family, people in recovery, grieving families, community members--all who wish to help in this mission. Your donations will directly contribute to a person's treatment and help save their life.

To make sure that the funds raised are used to their maximum potential, I have decided that every dollar of the money raised in this GoFundMe will be given to The Milestone House in Dover, NJ. As a former resident, alumni, and close friend of The Milestone House, I trust these people with my life. I cannot think of another non-profit recovery house that I would recommend. I have full faith that whoever we help will be in good hands. Milestone is truly a spiritual, loving, recovery hub.

From Milestone's website: The Milestone House has been passionate about recovery since its inception in 2002. After 20 years of serving the community, we proudly transitioned into a non-profit agency with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. Our houses are accredited by the New Jersey Alliance of Recovery Residence. We currently have five facilities located in historic Dover, New Jersey.
Milestone states: “It is our mission to provide an environment where residents are afforded the opportunity to be law-abiding, productive members of society; healthy in body, mind and spirit; and of maximum helpfulness to others.”
