Dylan’s Journey at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago

We are Dylan’s aunts Kim Kilday (Brian’s sister) and Heather Hamilton (Nicol’s sister) and we created this page to help our siblings with these unexpected expenses. Neither Brian nor Nicol would ever ask anyone for help and that’s why we are stepping up to ask for them!

On March 15th Dylan had an accident at his track meet that left him without feeling in his legs. He was taken by ambulance to CGH and then airlifted to Javon Bea, where they discovered he has a broken vertebra in his neck, and two pressing on his spinal cord. He has undergone two surgeries consisting of inserting a cage around his vertebrae to stabilize his neck and the insertion of a plate to replace the broken vertebrae.

Dylan is awake and thanking everyone who enters his room! That’s our Dylan, biggest hearted baby of our family!
