Help For Dylan Wilkes HL

Donation protected
** An update: **
Dylan’s results came in. This chemo was done in effort to clear the cancer for a stem cell transplant which he is now (as of now) eligible for. During the stem cell transplant period he will have to find lodging in Atlanta since he is required to be within a certain range for the sake of daily checkups and supervision. He will also have a lot of transportation expenses beforehand. This whole process will take about 2 months at least. Donations of any type would be greatly appreciated as we have less than 1 week until they do another biopsy at Emory and 2 weeks until they attempt to start gathering the cells and starting the process. Dylan will be unable to work for several months as he will be starting over with a like new immune system and recovering from the high dose chemotherapy. If anyone prefers to pay a bill directly we are happy to provide that information to you through email, text or call. Thanks for supporting him around through this rollercoaster- the game plan changes frequently BUT we are praying night and day for direction and answers. We are praying that God will give the doctors and Dylan the guidance they need. When it comes to his treatment, there are so many ways that Dylan could handle this but the only thing we know to do as a family and as of now is pray and declare that if the stem cell transplant is not right for him or is right for him (or any type of treatment is not right for him) that He will show us that by him being eligible or ineligible for it. We pray that he opens the doors that need to be opened and closes the ones that don’t! For more info on Dylans current financial needs please email us. We are happy to provide information on his expenses and how to contribute directly to the bill (GA Power, Geico, Landlord etc)

Dylan Wilkes is a 25 years old. He is living in Toccoa Georgia. He is the father to a 6 year old, the son of Tammy and Steve Wilkes. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma around December of ‘17. Since then he has been undergoing treatment. The doctors hoped that after the 6 months of radiation and chemotherapy he would see some major results. Unfortunately, the results came back and it has spread and shows cancer in his bones. He became resistant to the chemotherapy he was taking and the cancer cells are more active as well. He has a 6 year old son who prays for him every day and a family that loves him and wants him to be well.

He just finished his biopsy and had his chest tube removed. He did 6 months of chemotherapy, radiation, and now he is doing another chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant. He has done 2 treatments of this chemo in the hospital so far. He stays for 4 nights so they can monitor him and because he is on a 24 hour liver protector due to the side effects of this particular chemo. This round has been so hard on him. He feels weaker than ever, often feels lightheaded and nauseous. His heart rate has gone up and his blood pressure has gone down ever since starting this round. He is also anemic. The good news is that he has an appetite. He has been eating so much but has still lost weight.

As of now, the plan is to to MD Anderson in Texas- We want to be sure they have diagnosed him correctly before continuing treatment and hear what treatment options they can offer. We were scheduled go to Emory for a stem cell transplant and super high dose chemo. That will be followed by brintuxomab. So according to his results he will be doing treatment at MD Anderson in TX or Emory in Atlanta. Emory said he will need to be in Atlanta for at least 5 weeks for his treatments because he needs to be monitored. All of his treatments are out of town and the expenses are adding up. He has gotten support when possible from family and everyone has helped so much. We are hoping to take some of the pressure off him and his family while he goes through this. We thought he would finish those treatments and be able to work. Unfortunately he will not be able to for now and he needs help with transportation to visits, living expenses, medications and more. With no income it is very hard for him to focus on appointments due to the financial stress. He is looking for more affordable housing but has limited time to find that and sort out proof of income so for now he isn’t able to pursue that to the extent that he wishes he could. We understand that different people may be called to help with different things. If someone would rather help him with a need than to help financially we would appreciate that as well. At the moment gas gift cards are very helpful as he travels out of town multiple times a week for treatment. Grocery gift cards are very helpful as well. If you would like to meet up with him to make any type of contribution that is fine too. If you prefer to mail something we will be happy to give you his address. We have been so blessed to have so many praying for him all of this time. We know that he will make it through this and will soon be thriving. If you are unable to help financially we understand and we know the power of prayer and encouragement are worth far more than money!

We do not expect this amount and are thankful for any small contributions.

Feel free to share this campaign if you would like. If you would like to know more details about his specific diagnosis or have a question for his please reach out to him via email. His email is [email redacted]. Thanks for taking time to read his story.
