Dymond is Fighting Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer At 37 Years Old.

Hello everyone, I know many of you have been wondering where I've been and what's been happening in my life over the past few months. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dymond, and I am a 37-year-old Trinidad born, Brooklyn-based community curator, DJ, and print professional. I've always valued my privacy, but recent events have led me to reach out for personal support in a way I never imagined. Today, I'm opening up about my truly unexpected news.

As some of you may or may not know, I’ve been dealing with what I thought was only sciatica pain for the past 3 months. If you're familiar with this issue, it’s extremely painful, nonstop, and heals at a very slow pace. On April 1, 2024, (on the 1 year anniversary of my grandmother’s passing) it was brought to my attention that I have more than just sciatic pain. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 B-cell lymphoma cancer.

Since my immigration status is still in process, I unfortunately do not have an insurance plan, which lead me to be treated extremely unfairly and discriminated against by the healthcare system. I was intentionally not being properly assessed before I received emergency insurance.

Multiple visits to the emergency room were met with over-the-counter medication and cortisone shots to bandage the pain. After begging and pleading to have blood work and CT scans done, the results showed that the issue was way more serious, scary and I was immediately hospitalized for 2 weeks and haven’t been able to work ever since.

Many of you may be surprised and shocked, as I certainly am. Trying to stay positive, hopeful & focused has been my top priority. For the past few months, my mental and emotional health have been seriously challenged, shattered, and I’ve been numb to it all. Scared that I won’t recognize myself, I move forward in this journey and can’t help but fear the unknown.

For over 8 years, I've been dedicated to a pescatarian diet, maintained a pretty active lifestyle, and prioritized my health. I hardly indulge in candy and soda; I enjoyed social drinking responsibly; and I never indulge in drugs. And, yes, I've even consulted multiple doctors about vaping, always receiving the reassuring answer that my lungs and throat were in excellent condition (I've since quit, by the way). Yet, despite all this, I find myself facing this unexpected health challenge: Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer.

This cancer has now spread to my kidneys, upper chest, and upper back, with a now-growing tumor in my lower spinal/sacral area.
“For those that are not familiar B-Cell Lymphoma is a type of cancer that forms in B cells (a type of immune system cell). Cutaneous B-cell lymphoma is a rare type of blood cancer that may form as a firm bump under the skin. With timely and appropriate treatment, approximately two-thirds of all people can be cured.” I will be cured!

I pray we can come together in this very desperate time to assist in taking on this giant feat in the next chapter of my life. I am reaching out for financial assistance and deeply appreciate any support in covering the expenses related to my upcoming treatments, both holistic & traditional. Due to the extensive nature of these treatments, I will be unable to work and cover these costs independently.

* Medical Bills Chemotherapy/Radiation
* Housing / Rental Assistance
* Food / Basic Necessities
* Transportation to & from Doctor Visits
* Prescription Medication

I’m also working on bringing my mother from Trinidad to be by my side during this difficult time after not seeing me, her youngest child and only daughter in over 13 years. I hate that it is under such circumstances; however, there’s nothing more healing than a mother’s love. This needs to happen and I know with your help and understanding we can make this dream of mine come through.

I'm truly grateful to everyone for extending a helping hand, whether through donations or kind words. Your support during this challenging time means the most to me, and I am here with tearful eyes and a grateful heart. Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!
