Dyno Dan --- An Old Friend & Racer Needs Help!

We are a group of friends organizing this campaign for the benefit of longtime friend, brother, fellow racer and all-around good guy ‘Dyno’ Dan Davis. He is sick, alone, a long way from home and needs help. These contributions will help ensure that he has a chance to heal and be among a large network of people who consider him family.

 

Dan was born and raised in Detroit and ultimately moved to Thailand in the early 2000’s. In a nutshell, he exhausted his resources last year as he continued to pay his employees / vendors as the pandemic took hold and continued. As his business is all travel-based to other countries in that region, the continuing shutdowns completely depleted him financially. He had continued to seek employment, even for jobs he is over-qualified, but either age or logistics / politics derailed him. He downsized to a small apartment and has lived on the bare essentials.

 

Things went from bad to worse earlier this summer when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The disease and the chemotherapy etc have made for a horrible and challenging day-to-day existence. The tumor is not shrinking and the prognosis is unknown at this point. He just recently decided to stop the treatments, both for short-term quality of life and to preserve energy for his trip back here to Detroit at the end of this month.

 

Friends of his in Bangkok were able to help him arrange flights back here and provide funds to navigate the process of leaving Thailand.

 

As Dan is single, an only child and has no living extended family, his support system of friends here are rallying together to find him a place to live and have a comfortable quality of life as he navigates these challenges. Continuing his medical care and getting him healthy enough to rejoin the workforce is the main goal, but the possibility is there that end-of-life care and planning could also become a reality.

 

So, as we would for any of our friends in a serious jam, we are asking for any and all financial assistance we can provide Dan…an independent guy who has always tried to be a positive contributor to society that is flat on his ass and has nowhere else to turn at this point.

 

This wasn’t easy to write, and you can imagine how agonizing it was for him to have to ask. Dan has endured a horrific ordeal and we have an opportunity to provide him a much-needed lifeline and hopefully, a healthy and comfortable quality of life going forward.

 

As we go into Thanksgiving and the holiday season, it seems fitting to appreciate who and what we have in our lives and how we can help those suffering and in serious need of help.
