Riding for Richard
Hi everyone,
My name is Will, I’m a 19 year old looking to raise £5000of which 100% of the money raised will go to MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. The reason I have chosen MacMillan as our charity for this fundraiser is to not only raise awareness, but to also donate to a cause that could benefit and better the lives of so many people affected by cancer.
The reason I will be aiming to raise this amount of money is to help families who have endured what mine has, by donating to a charity who can provide the support that people may need after the loss of a family member or friend to cancer.
Ten years ago, on February 13th 2015 my father, Richard Clayton passed away from cancer at the age of 49, I was only 9 at the time. This was of course a very challenging and emotional time for our family.
As this coming year marks the 10th anniversary of my father’s passing, I wanted to challenge myself and do something BIG! After many discussions and brainstorming sessions I came up with the idea of cycling from my father’s favourite place, La Tzoumaz in Switzerland to his home town, Stratford Upon-Avon. This cycle covers over 800 miles and the journey will take us across three countries. We are aiming to start our journey on the 23rd of April and finish it on the 4th of May. I will be accompanied by my friend George Skerrett who will take part in this with me.
I would immensely appreciate any support that could be given to us and our cause. This event will be quite the spectacle!
Thank you!
