Running for Super Brothers B
Donation protected
As most of you know, I am running the 2015 New York City Marathon on November 1. I would like to use this run to help raise money for my coworker, Paul Rojas, who "runs" his own personal marathon every day trying to take care of his two young sons, both of whom have been diagnosed with ALD.
Paul's eight-year-old son, Brandon, was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) in August 2014. This is a progressive genetic brain disease. By December 2014, Brandon lost the ability to walk, speak, and eat. He presently has a feeding tube for nutrition and a wheelchair for mobility. There is currently no treatment or cure for advanced stage ALD in boys like Brandon.
Two months after Brandon was diagnosed, Paul had his younger son, Brian, tested for the disease. He was also diagnosed with ALD. Since it was detected early, he was able to have an autologous transplant with gene therapy as intervention.
Paul and his family travel to see ALD specialists every three months or more, as the need arises. He and his family desperately need a wheelchair accessible van to help transport Brandon and Brian to these many hospital and doctor visits in Boston, Baltimore, New York City, and Westchester County.
Many of you have asked how you can support me on my marathon run. This is how you can help: You can donate money to help Paul and his family purchase a wheelchair accessible van to make their lives just a little bit easier. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
