A Prayer Of Hope For My Mother ...

Hi, my name is Tracey Bowden, and I organized this fundraiser to help my mother, Shelrita Bowden; some of you know her as Rita. My mother has worked for Beebe Medical Center for over 40 years, from the kitchen to lead staff at the Millsboro Beebe Walk-In. I am sure many of you have seen her beautiful smile and crazy personality at the window.

Two years ago, in the late summer, my mother suffered a massive stroke and a series of seizures that put her into early retirement. My mother has become total care now, which may shock those who knew her most. She was always working, from doing weekends at Vera Bradley at the outlets to cleaning the banks at Del-One while still maintaining her full-time job at the walk-in.

During this process, her house is going into foreclosure, and as her only child, this hurts me. I have and still proceed to do all i can to save it. The mortgage company (TideMark) was not helpful and chose not to help in any way to modify or refinance her loan (which is only two years' worth of payment) and continued to push for foreclosure.

My mother would give her last meal and the shirt off her back to ensure others were ok even if she wasn't. And for that very reason, I am so proud to call this woman my mother.
