#BlackOnTheSea "The Little Mermaid" Screening!

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

I'm Tamia Iman Kennedy, multihyphenate creator and owner of the multimedia production company, Black On The Scene. Our mission at BOTS, is ensuring Black representation in the film, television, and digital realm by providing jobs for creators, raising awareness and celebrating Black cinema and depicting positive stories about Black people.

When Disney announced that "The Little Mermaid" would be starring its first Black live-action princess, played by Halle Bailey, I instantly knew that I wanted to commemorate the film's release. We decided to host a free screening for 200 Black girls in the community to see themselves amplified and magical.

In addition to Black Representation in Media, we've partnered with Cultured Books Literacy Foundation and Courageous Leap to spread light on Literacy, Water Safety, and Marine Biology. Cultured Books Literacy Foundation will provide a free copy of the newly released book "The Little Mermaid" and discuss their programs aimed at promoting literacy in Youth. Courageous Leap will offer free swimming lessons and opportunities to help dismantle children's fear of the water.

To bring this #BlackOnTheSea experience to life, we are raising $15,000.

Thank you so much for your support!
Tamia :)
