Dear Friends,
As we have all learned through life, there are many rough roads, obstacles, tragedies and hardships that we may encounter. This page is to help and support our dear and unique friend Jeff Ebner.
As many of you know Jeff has undergone numerous hip replacement & infection surgeries over the past 16 years. Starting back in 1998 Jeff had his right hip replaced. In 1999 he had his left hip replaced, both with what were considered at the time good, FDA approved hip prosthetics. In 2005 due to long term complications with his surgery Jeff’s left hip became heavily infected to the point they removed the prosthetic hip andinserted a temporary concrete spacer. For 9 months Jeff had the concrete spacer and was on strong antibiotics to heal the infection caused by a faulty prosthetic.
At this point Jeff was able to move forward with his normal routine and resume his full time employment. He was able to move into a new job as well as he and Kathleen were able to afford a small home of their own.
In 2011 Jeff’s right hip prosthetic began to fail and they replaced parts within the joint. Shortly thereafter the head of Jeff’s hip bone where the prosthetic hip attached broke and required yet another surgery and a plate was added to the femer bone.
In 2013 the left hip prosthetic used in Jeff’s replacement has failed and the prosthetics have been recalled and taken off the marke. The joint was replaced with a new prosthetic hip.
Currently Jeff's right femer bone is now so dangerously infected due to the failed plate that was placed in 2011 to include the right hip prothessis, that he will again need to have the hip prothesis removed and a concrete spacer placed for up to one year and will be confined to the use of a wheel chair or walker.
For the many friends that Jeff has made over his life, we all know he is not a person that easily asks for help or “handouts”, you could almost say to the point of being stubborn…However it’s time for all the people Jeff has helped throughout the years, whether helping them move, teaching them how to work out/lift weights, fix their motorcycles, cars, lawnmowers, etc…, or has passed his ever so wonderful wisdom onto them, to help Jeff. The stress of the coming surgery and treatment, coupled with the financial burden of the very costly medical process and being unable to himself work and earn an income is overwhelming. I am asking that we again get behind Jeff, show him our emotional and financial support.
I am asking that we all donate amounts each of us is comfortable with.
Sincerely,
John R Nagy
