Save Harvey

If you have ever heard my music live ~ my vehicle is the reason why. Most recently that vehicle's name is Harvey, named after the Harvest moon when I purchased him only 3 short years ago. I have been a touring musician most of my adult life and I pride myself on taking excellent care of my vehicle. It is my lifeline to the world and the way I can support myself with my music.

Last weekend after a gig in Nashville, Harvey's transmission went out and I was stuck there. It is the first time I have broken down and have not been able to drive home in all my years of touring. As I said, I take great care of my car! It was a shock. Turns out this particular vehicle does not have the best rep with transmissions. I wish I had known. I still owe too much to trade it in and the transmission is not rebuildable. The best I can do is replace it. And this is the lowest estimate I got after calling many different places. The mechanic said it will have a warranty of 100k miles. My hope is that after a couple of years I will have paid enough to trade it in and get something with a better transmission so that I do not have to worry about this again.
