Support Daniel's Family

Our adored Daniel Thomas Ridgers, died suddenly on Monday, 2nd December. Anyone who has ever known Dan can imagine the loss in all of our lives of this man, the embodiment of the silliest fun, unending kindness and gentleness to all and an intense passion in everything he did. My children and I have lost a son and brother, but Monica Ridgers has lost the love of her life and Alex and Matthew have lost their best and beloved father.

Daniel was born near Maidenhead, in the Royal County of Berkshire. In 1986 our family moved from England to California. Although he remained English in humour, slang, culinary preferences and nationality, Daniel was nearly never seen without the baseball cap and shorts (even in the snow) of his adopted country. Daniel saw Monica in art class at Bolsa Grande High School, fell immediately and hopelessly in love and they have been each other’s helpmate, soulmate and best friend for the last 36 years. Their two sons, Alex and Matthew, are perhaps Daniel’s greatest legacy: full of crazy, sometimes very loud exuberance like their dad, but also bearing his empathy, compassion and joy in helping others.

In work Daniel moved from creating art to producing animation for major studios, award-winning advertising and bespoke projects. He coached baseball and soccer, the latter for years. But like everything Dan put his passions to, halfway was never good enough and anyone reading this will have his or her own memories of the ‘Eveready Bunny’ that was Daniel Ridgers.

In lieu of flowers or other offerings, we are setting up this site to help Daniel’s family prepare a Celebration of Life worthy of his infectious spirit and deal with future expenses in the wake of this unexpected heartbreak. This is also a site to share your memories of Daniel. Your thoughts and prayers have already meant so much in the few days of our greatest loss.

Thank you so much for knowing Daniel and helping to fill the void now in our lives.
