Baby Greyson's Grace Fund!
Greyson Walsh was born on May 9th, 2014 to Chris and Kelly Walsh. He has been at Riley for over 17 weeks. He started his stay at Riley Childrens hospital on May 9th,the day he was born.
Kelly and Chris were given his diagnosis when she was about 24 weeks pregnant after several ultrasounds. His condition caused her to have an excessive amount of amniotic fluid build over the course of her last trimester. At delivery she had enough fluid to carry triplets & her heart couldn't handle the weight anymore causing her to be hospitalized.
Greyson was diagnosed with what is called a long gap tracheoesophageal fistula Type B (TEF) which meant they believed that his esophagus and trachea were connected by a hole and his esophagus was not connected to his stomach creating two esophageal pouches (one where the esophagus stopped growing & one where the esophagus attaches to the stomach).
Upon delivery they also discovered a perforation in his colon causing him to be rushed into surgery just hours after he was born to repair is colon. Kelly was uable to hold her first born child until days later which was heartbreaking.
After surgery on the 21st they found that he may be the first type of TEF of his kind. (There are 5types documented). Kelly and Chris have spent all these days in the hospital waiting for the esophageal pouches to grow close enough together to repair. He was born with a 3.5cm gap between the pouches which is a large gap in a 5lb6oz infant.
Greyson has had 2 major surgeries and a long list of test and procedures done over the last four months. He does have a few more procedures to go in his Riley journey but they are hopeful that in the next few months he will be settled at home with his mom and dad .
Kelly and Chris have devoted the majority of their time to be with their brave son Greyson. They are doing their best to balance running three businesses, both working full time and still being bedside with Greyson everyday. The days traveling back and forth is financially debilitating. I personally have had the privelage of knowing Kelly and Chris for several years. They are two of the most kind and loving people I've ever met. Spending any amount of time with Greyson you can see why he has become such a popular resident with all his Riley nurses. He is the most sweet loving little boy and has had to fight such a hard battle at such a young age.
Any contribution you can make will help a great deal and I know they will be forever grateful!!
