Norfolk Home Gas Leak Explosion Fundraiser
Donation protected
TW: Blood and Injury
My name is Shauna, and I am fundraising for my dad and his partner who have experienced a destructive gas leak explosion in their home this month. With the time of year, they are suffering financial hardship alongside injury and shock.
The cause of the explosion is not clear, however we believe that there was a pipe leak, which built up pressure in the kitchen and was sparked by electricity, which then tragically tore through the kitchen and dining room, where my dad was standing and where he sustained burns, cuts, a fractured leg and a lot of mental trauma. The road to recovery will be long and challenging and will put my dad out of his self-employed work for at least 12 weeks. Myself and family feel grateful that he is safe and okay, and realise that it could have been so much worse.
My step-mum Lilly was outside when the explosion occurred, and had to lift the blown off back door from herself before the ambulance, police and fire brigade arrived to aid.
The damage to the house has left them with no permanent address, and a loss of personal and sentimental items. I aim to raise some money to support them with new temporary accommodation costs, and although the house currently seems irreparable, a donation could potentially contribute towards any possible repair costs.
My dad and Lilly have always supported me, and I feel the least I can do is try to raise some money to support them through such a difficult and overwhelming time. I am reaching out to ask for any support no matter how big or small to help my dad and Lilly start fresh, find a new home and replace their essential belongings that were lost in the explosion, and we would be so grateful for any contribution at all.
