The Unbelievable Final Gift

He was an amazing son, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, boyfriend and Christian.  Just 24 years old, he played baseball in college, finished his degree and was now working on his master’s degree.  He had found the love of his life, Jessica Campbell.  He and his childhood friend, Cameron, owned and worked at their own construction company.  Life was great for Clayton Sparks.

On January 9, 2019, he and a group of his friends were on one of their many Colorado ski trips.  They were on their last run before they left for the airport to go home when the unthinkable happened.  He ran into a tree, was life flighted to a trauma 1 hospital, and could not overcome his injuries.

His parents, Beth and Larry rushed to Denver to be with their only child.  The sadness and devastation cannot be described in words.  He was their pride and joy.  Unbeknownst to them, Clayton had signed his drivers license with his intention to be an organ donor.  He was a perfect donor, young, healthy and strong.

His unbelievable final gift to this world would be for many people around the country to be saved from life threatening and disabling ailments.  While we grieve, other families will be rejoicing.

It was just how Clayton lived his life, always helping others. Since elementary school he collected gifts at Christmas for the mentally challenged at Bridgewood Farms and would deliver them in a Santa costume; from a young age he would ask for money for the food bank from his friends instead of birthday presents; and he brought many of his friends to church so they could also have a relationship with Jesus.

He is just going before us to a beautiful, eternal life in heaven.  May God provide comfort to all those who knew him and lead us to someday understand His perfect plan.

Rest in Peace Clayton Sparks.  You will be so missed.
