EACH ONE REACH ONE - HURRICANE RELIEF SUPPORT

Donation protected

As we have seen in the media, the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco have been severely affected by Hurricane Dorian, and there are more storm systems forming on the waters. As fellow Caribbean people, we know what it is like to have to recover from natural disasters and the great distress that follows. In these times the act of Come-Unity is most important.

We Have The Right To Be Right
(RTBR) was founded by Actress/ Writer Donisha Prendergast, Film Director and Activist Kelly Fyffe-Marshall and Visual Artist Komi Olafimihan. What started out as a social impact campaign has evolved into a collective of artists and activists based in Toronto, Canada and other parts of the world, who have aligned our talents, resources, abilities and platforms to support and empower our brothers and sisters, especially in times of emotional distress.

In these moments, we can't stand aside and look. This is a CALL TO ACTION to support efforts towards hurricane relief happening now. Presently, we are working with the National Association of Bahamians in Canada to facilitate the collection, organization, transportation and distribution of items, volunteers and services that are desperately needed. But we are also trying to create a way for individuals from around the world to help as well.

We have made contact with a number of individuals living in Abaco and Grand Bahama to gain insight on the ground to asses how best we can assist. From the information we have gathered we realize the best way to help is to volunteer on the ground and make sure to supply the efforts equally. We will be sending rounds of volunteers toThe Bahamas throughout the next couple of months from North America, as well as donations. We look forward to contributing to the Healing.

On Sep 11-15, the first round of volunteers will travel by air to Nassau, Bahamas from airports in Toronto and Fort Lauderdale with 400lbs of donations to physically be present on the ground.  We will schedule other trips once we have assessed the situation on the ground and create some sense of structure and approach.

On Nov 14 - Nov 18, the second round of volunteers will travel by air to Nassau, Bahamas from airports in Toronto and Miami, once on the ground in Nassau we will travel to Grand Bahama and Abaco to be hands on with evacuees.

While in Nassau, the team will engage in the following ways. Filled with activities and safe spaces to relax and get emotional support.

- Support present distribution channels
- Distribute Care Packages : Abaco & Grand Bahama
- Activate Children's Village: Nassau & Grand Bahama
- Medical Pop Up : Abaco & Grand Bahama

This is a desperate situation. We want to help to facilitate urgent care and attention especially for those who may be overlooked. We are especially seeking support to help transport items from Nassau to Abaco via boats, cesna crafts and helicopters.

Funds raised will be used to purchase and transport necessary items in wholesale amounts to affected families of Grand Bahama and Abaco and be withdrawn and handled on behalf of RTBR by Kelly Fyffe-Marshall. This will be a transparent process and you can be with us every step of the way via our instagram profile @wehavetherighttoberight. Live social media check-ins will assist our followers in understanding what is needed, how the funds and donations are distributed and the status of the islands.
