Explosion brief
On August 4 at 6:07 pm a devastating blast occurred in the port of Beirut. The intensity of the detonation was equivalent to a 4.5-magnitude earthquake – a shake so strong it was even felt in Cyprus 241km away. The effects of the explosion spanned from the port which was completely destroyed to the surrounding neighborhoods smashing schools, hospitals, homes, businesses, and the whole city suffered from shattered glass and damaged properties. The explosion resulted in more than 200 deaths and over 8,000 wounded and more than 300,000 left without shelter. This disaster happened during an already heated socio-economic crisis and a global pandemic where unemployment reached more than one million individuals. The hospitals are under enormous stress and many citizens are left jobless, homeless, and traumatized. Our Lebanese community has made it clear that they still need us. And we need you. Together we can send a strong message of support to the victims of Beirut.
Who are we?
We have launched a relief mission in the name of EADA Lebanese Alumni and EADA clubs to receive all the donations and distribute them to trusted local non-profit organizations and groups who are standing by our Lebanese families and friends back home amidst this humanitarian crisis. We are all humbled by all the strength, positive energy, and compassion received from everyone to comfort and stand next to the Lebanese people during these uncertain times. This shows us that we are in this together, the impact of the tragedy has surprised the whole world and traumatized the Lebanese people.
What are we asking
A hot meal, a fixed door, a children's book, a school uniform, and a small shovel can bring a change, help alleviate the immediate suffering and assist people as they start the process of rebuilding their lives again. Imagine that a small amount of donation similar to 30€ will make an impact on a family, for a single month. We aim to set an initial target of 10,000€.
Who is taking the money and how it will help
We have vetted trusted NGOs and in collaboration with teams, Together we Rebuild, Impact Lebanon, Foodblessed, BeitBeit and Save the Children which are directly assisting those impacted by the explosion, with a division based on need. The EADA Alumni community, united for Lebanese family members and friends, will provide financial relief to support and assist hundreds of families to overcome this tragedy.
Turning compassion into action, this initiative will help Lebanese people, friends, and families back home dream again and rebuild their homes. We are certain that with the solidarity and perseverance of our EADA Alumni community will be able to support our community and beloved Beirut during these challenging times.
For them it's time to rebuild better, recover quickly and visualize for a brighter future. We hope we can count on the generosity of our Alumni to see this mission through.
Thank you for your generosity and care.

A note on handling the funds for this campaign:
For transparency purposes and since Gofundme doesn't allow Lebanese bank accounts to withdraw the raised funds, the team in Barcelona will withdraw the exact amount and send it to the respective NGO/groups and we will, of course, retain all the proofs of transfer and publish them here in due course for full transparency.
