Eagle Scout Outdoor Classroom and Garden Area

Hello, My name is Stefan Povsic. I am a Life Scout working on my Eagle Scout Project at my school, Olympic Heights Community High School; which is located in Boca Raton, Florida. My Eagle Scout Project is designed to get people outdoors and enjoy nature by building a forest area/outdoor classroom. This forest area is designed to create shade and attract wildlife, as well as give teachers a place to bring their classes outside. This area can also be used by various sports teams like Football, Track, JROTC and Wrestling.

I have designed an area at the back of the school to be a green area, it is adjacent to the Visitor's bleachers and is approximately 60'x 65'. I will also beautify the walkway along the back of the stadium with a row of alternating Coconut Palms and Loquat trees. Different types of plants be used to create an effect of 3 different height tiers or stories. A variety of plants will be planted with 7-gallon fruit trees [Loquat, Mulberry and Avocado] and a 7-gallon Royal Poinciana as the upper story, 1-3 gallon Fire Bush as the mid-story and bromeliads as the bottom story plants. Three picnic tables will be added to offer a place to sit and learn. all at the school will be able to enjoy this new area.
