Eagle Scout Project at King Gillette Ranch
Donation protected
I'm Luke Dato, a Life Scout with Troop 485 of Westlake Village, California and I am fundraising for my Eagle project to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the culmination of my Scouting career. King Gillette Ranch (https://www.nps.gov/places/king-gillette-ranch.htm) is located in the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and is the former home of razor magnate King C. Gillette. The property was acquired by the State of California in 2007.
The enclosures that hide the trash dumpsters at King Gillette Ranch are old, weathered, and falling apart and distract from the beauty the park has to offer. On top of that, the gates on the enclosures do not function properly and are dangerous and inconvenient when trying to access the dumpsters. The surrounding wood is dry-rotted and in disrepair making the enclosures dangerous to park staff and waste management contractors.
For my Eagle project, I will lead a team to rebuild multiple enclosures with more robust materials and a better gate design that will last for decades to come, restoring their functionality and enhancing the ranch's natural beauty. The donations received will go directly to purchasing materials and supplies whose prices have been greatly affected by supply chain difficulties and inflation. Any surplus donations will be donated to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
Thank you for your kind and generous support. It's greatly appreciated!
