Eagle Scout Project: BSA x NASCAR on NBC media

Eagle rank & Scouting image Elevation and Honor - Enhancement project.

I’m a 16 year old Eagle Scout. I’m also a NASCAR driver. I am attempting to field this car in the Arca Menards division this fall. I want the world to see Scouts “going for it” in life. I want to promote and elevate the honor of Scouting. I’d love you to be a part of it.

Because I’m trained to the rank of Eagle, I can plan and organize. I’ve been trained to identify a project that syncs with my personal goals, put a plan together, execute the components of the plan and lead it to success.

I was the Troop Bugler. I had to play in front of a hundred people when I was 12. That prepared me to speak to track announcers. My Eagle project helped equip women for a new life at our battered women’s shelter. That taught me planning and logistics.

Scouting enables you to work with adults. At the track, I have to manage relationships with the crew chief, NASCAR officials, broadcasters, TV camera crews, sponsors and present myself to the race fans who paid good money to come out and see the show.

I have most of this figured out, but I need a little financial help. So, I’m inviting you to pitch in a little if you can, help me get out on track and join my team.

I need money for brakes, car graphics and a set of tires.

If we’re successful, maybe parents will see the car and be interested in their kids joining Scouts.

I’m bringing an estimated 7-9 million viewers nationally when you combine NBC, NASCAR media, FloSports and Scouting media.

I’m doing this on my own - financially - for now - because I’m underage. This is my project and my car. I don’t want any money from BSA. I wouldn’t want to take scout money away from scouts. I have several corporate partners helping but it’s NASCAR approved equipment, so the brakes and tires cost more.

We’re going to pull this together. There’s like 20 million scouts and alumni out there in the USA. There are thousands of Eagles that are successful: Rex Tillerson, Robert Gates and Bill Clinton to name a few. Currently, there are 4 million registered scouts and volunteers in USA. That’s a big team.

The Big Goal:

Get the car out at Phoenix International raceway. This NBC broadcast during the Cup Series finale weekend and draws 15 million viewers. A Scout car in the race would reach over 20 million people across all channels. I have to run two qualifying races at smaller half mile tracks before I’m allowed to run Phoenix.

Speaking of leading, I’m a Top 5 driver. I finished 3rd in the 2023 Nevada NASCAR State Championship. I can get the car a Top 5 finish to get maximum air time. All you have to do is stay on the lead lap to draw cameras and commentary.

Any leftover money (if I raise some donations but not enough to make the race) goes back to scouting via the Eagle NESA college fund.

Me:

I started racing karts when I was 10. I moved up to Madera speedway Junior Late Model program at 14 years old and came very close to winning the 2023 Nevada NASCAR Championship. I got 3rd in points. At the Bullring, I was racing guys mostly twice my age. I led a lot of races but my best finish was second.
