Eagle Scout - Shining Hope Farms

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit my page. My name is Dylan Luna. I have been involved in Scouting since I was in the 5th grade, where I started as a Bear Cub. In the years since, I have earned my Arrow of Light award, bridged over to Boy Scout Troop 56 in Belmont, NC, and I am now working towards completing my Eagle Scout project and earning my Eagle Scout rank before I turn 18 and graduate from high school in June 2023. It has been a rewarding journey, which is now coming to its conclusion before I enter the “real world.”

Along my Scouting adventure, I have learned many valuable lessons and skills, including the importance of teamwork, loyalty, service, hard work, and leadership in all aspects of my life.

I am thankful to have so many leaders that have helped me to get to this point. I have made so many memories and lifelong friends as part of my journey.

After seven years in Scouting, as I previously noted, I am now working toward achieving the final rank of Eagle Scout. As part of this rank, I will be working on my Eagle project this winter. For my Eagle project, I will make a standing beanbag toss and a ball toss for a horse trail on shining hope farm. The beanbag toss will stimulate kids' brains by using shapes and colors. I will also make a ball toss out of tires. The tires will be painted differently to match the balls the kids will throw. The children will have to match the color to the color of the tire. The children will have to through the ball into the correct colored tire.

I am humbly asking for your kind support as funding is needed for the costs related to making these Brain games possible, including but not limited to costs to purchase primer, paint, wood, and other supplies needed to complete this project. Any amount donated would be sincerely appreciated and gladly accepted. This achievement is very meaningful and important to my family and me. Over the years, I have learned that through my persistence, determination, and kind support from others, I am able to complete projects such as this, which in turn hopefully help to make the lives of others also just a little bit better.

About Shining Hope Farms!

Shining Hope Farms was founded in 2002 by Paul and Melinda Kirkpatrick in response to the needs in the community to provide therapeutic services in an enriching farm environment. The purpose of the farms’ services is to improve the quality of life of participants as well as their families. Shining Hope Farms’ programs have been structured to serve individuals and groups with various disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Developmental Disabilities, Brain Injuries, Hypotonia, and the like. Our clients find wellness, strength, and hope on the back of a horse.
