Help Evie Fight Leukemia

Donation protected
On March 15th, my niece, Evie, was taken to the ER at Gulf Coast Medical Center after having a high fever. At the time, they thought it was a number of things like a cold, allergies or possibly the flu. It was two days later the lab results came back and at the follow up appointment the doctor said he suspected Evie had leukemia. Evie and and her mom Lisa were transported to Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola where we received devastating news that she has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Evie began chemotherapy treatments right away and she and Lisa have been at Sacred Heart ever since. Given the expected duration of the treatment, we now know that it will be necessary for Evie and Lisa to relocate to Pensacola for at least the next 2 years.  For those of you who know sweet Evie, she is an energetic and very happy child. She is SO loved and adored by her Mom, Dad and Bonus Mom, grandparents, cousins and many other family members and friends. Even though these treatments steal a lot of her energy and she is often very tired, she keeps a smile and is still playful.

Because of Evie's compromised immune system and the threat of Covid-19, once Evie begins outpatient treatments she and Lisa will need their own place close by to quarantine in. The frequency of these future treatments is unknown at this time as things change daily, but it has become evident that it is best that Evie be as close to the medical professionals that can help her as possible. The lack of reliable transportation to make the constant back and forth trip to Pensacola from Panama City has also necessitated this move. There probably has never been as bad of a time to ask for financial help. So many people have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic and we totally understand if you’re unable to contribute. We do ask, however, that you please share this post.  Please keep Evie, her parents, and the rest of her family in your thoughts and prayers as they battle this cancer and start a new journey in Pensacola. We will provide updates as we can.
