For the love of our trees, Unwind the Vines!
Donation protected
My name is Karen Toole. I am a small business owner that lives and works near the Highland Park Reservoir. On my walks with my dog, I try to pull vines from our park trees. The Department of Public Works and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy do a great job of maintaining our parks and open spaces but the invasive vines are challenging to get under control.
So, with support from the City Department of Public Works, Phipps and the Children's Museum, and others, we are seeking volunteers to help remove invasive vines from City trees and then we will lead two all day workshops to make Earth Day Spheres from the vines. Our hope is that these events, removing vines and creating Earth Day Spheres will become an annual, fun, educational, empowering event and together we will help protect our urban tree canopy.
This first year we will need $900 to buy specialty pliers for participants to use at the workshops and print educational materials, all of which will be used year after year. Any donation amount is appreciated and we would love to see you at the vine pulls or workshops.
If you would like to volunteer to pull vines me at [email redacted]
To sign up for the Earth Day Workshops visit www.andflowers.com under workshops.
Also, we need leader, supervisors at all locations and times.
Thank you sincerely,
Karen
