Easing the Burden: Carl's Funeral and Debt

Hello, my name is Sue Dawson. I am Carl's (CJ) mom. As most of you know, we tragically and suddenly lost Carl on September 14, 2024. He was legally married but separated and filing for divorce. (His appointment for that was just 5 days after his passing.) So this whole thing has been a stressful situation.

I have helped pay for his funeral expenses, his truck was in my name, and he still owes $50k on it. I have been waiting to hear from the insurance company, and his "wife" hasn't allowed the insurance company to speak to me about the claim to total it out. Which means, on top of the $4,000 I have paid for the funeral expenses, I seem to be stuck with trying to get the truck paid off, on top of impound fees and holding fees for it sitting at the tow lot as long as it has.

I know his wife had a fundraiser for her going to navigate the loss; however, she has not spoken to me to help me navigate any of this. He was not living with her since June and hasn't lost any sort of financial support. I hate to ask for help, but I cannot go into debt that will range from $50k-$60k on top of losing my mini-me. Any help is appreciated.
