Easing the Burden for Darrick Gates' Loved Ones

Dear Friends and Community Members,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Darrick Gates, a beloved resident of Onalaska, Washington. Darrick passed away on November 25, 2024, due to complications from a heart attack and heart failure. He had been in and out of the hospital for two months, which has left his family struggling to keep up with rent and bills.

Darrick's cremation cost $1,000, and his family now needs additional funds for a funeral plot and services. Unfortunately, because Darrick was not married to Cassie, she will not receive any benefits from him. Cassie is now left to care for their two bonus children and two biological children, the youngest being just three years old.

Darrick worked as a custodian and substitute van driver for the Onalaska School District, and Cassie is also a van driver for Onalaska School District, now working double shifts to cover their bills. Despite her efforts, the financial burden is overwhelming.

We are reaching out to our community for support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help Darrick's family cover the costs of his funeral and ease their financial strain. Your generosity will make a significant difference in their lives.
