Conscious Connections, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to combat food insecurity in our local community and beyond. We operate an urban farm in Wilmington, DE that aims to uplift the community through exposure and education in both agriculture and the arts.
Conscious Connections, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to combat food insecurity in our local community and beyond. We operate an urban farm in Wilmington, DE that aims to uplift the community through exposure and education in both agriculture and the arts.
Through our youth programming, we teach kids about all aspects of the farm from seed to harvest. Our L.I.T. Crew (Leaders in Training) also produce their own comic book series that discuss some of the real-world issues they are facing within their own communities. The L.I.T. Crew comic book series features relatable characters that take the form of fruits and vegetables. The heroes of the series are also named to honor some great African American leaders of the past and present.
We are excited to be working with L.I.T. Crew comic illustrator and local artist Smashed Label to create a mural featuring our characters to our block on East 23rd Street. The new mural will be displayed proudly on the side of the building next to our raised bed gardens (Site B).
Our mission has always been to bring out the beauty of our community by creating more green spaces that allow residents to connect with nature. Please help us continue to transform our street and community by donating to our mural fundraiser.
Thanks to the generous donation from local Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, we are on the way to making this mural a reality! Our goal is to raise an additional $5,250 to cover the costs of painting the mural.
What is Wilmington Evolution?
A concept and movement aimed at connecting Wilmington community members by creating a network of individuals who want to positively impact their local community through neighborhood beautification, increasing access to healthy food, and providing opportunities for workforce development.
Wilmington Evolution is an extension of Conscious Connections, Inc. and our mission. We welcome the collaboration of other like-minded individuals and organizations that are ready to invest in the continued transformation of our city by demonstrating and modeling community engagement practices that are more purposeful, equitable, and transparent. We believe that we are stronger when we work together and showing LOVE for our city will help EVOLVE it into a safer place with more opportunity for both personal and economic growth.
