East Lothian 18
Donation protected
When I was a kid, we used to go to North Berwick on summer holidays and I would sit in the back of the car with my brother, looking out at the golf courses on the coast and imagine you could play across the whole of East Lothian without ever leaving a golf course.
So I'm giving it a go.
18 East Lothian golf courses, in one day, walking.
Starting at Old Musselburgh (the world's oldest existing course), playing the first hole, then 17 more courses, playing each hole in order until a finish at the 18th hole of Dunbar Golf Club.
It's around 50 miles of walking, carrying clubs and enjoying the views.
Why?
Beyond satisfying a childhood fantasy, it's to help give back to the game that has given me a lot and support the Stephen Gallacher Foundation .
I got to know Stephen when I was working on the European Tour and have attended his fundraising dinner a couple of times and seen the amazing work that he and the foundation do to help provide events, education, equipment and access to young golfers across Scotland.
If it wasn't for the kids' par three course in North Berwick, and the events they would run, I'm not sure I would have loved golf the way I did back then or the way I still do today. Having somewhere to play and events to play in started an obsession with the game that has led me to this challenge.
Please consider donating. I promise you the money will be used wisely to help the next generation of Scottish golfers.
Thank you,
Jamie
