East Alabama Tornado Relief (Whatley family)
Don protégé
On March 3, 2019, as many of you know, we endured a horrible storm in Lee County, Alabama. As my husband, Tony Rush and I rushed to help our family after the storm came through, sadly, it was much worse than we could have imagined.
A tornado destroyed the home of my sister and brother in law, Steve and Remy Whatley. Their two children, Peyton and Mackenzie, a friend of Peyton and Remy's mother, Vicki Braswell were all in the home when it was ripped from the foundation and turned upside down, leaving their home in disarray. They are devastated and in hopes to take some of the stress off of them while Remy is recovering , I am asking our friends, family and community to rally together to help as best as we can.
Remy, her daughter Mackenzie and her mother were pinned in the debris. While Remy and Mackenzie was rescued and taken to the hospital to treat her injuries, Vicki, her mother, did not survive. Remy sustained bone fractures and a dislocated clavicle. Mackenzie suffered a broken collar bone.
This family lost their mother, their home, car and everything they owned. This campaign is to raise money for the unexpected funeral expenses for my mother in law Vicki Braswell and to help the Whatley family to start over. They were rescued from their home with only the clothes they were wearing. This has been a devastating loss for our family as well as the surrounding families. We are beyond grateful for all the prayers and phone calls we have received.
Vicki Braswell was my mother in law and she was an amazing person as well as the Whatley family. My heart is broken for my husband and sister in law as they plan the funeral of their mom.
Donations will be going towards clothing for the family, medical bills that they are enduring , food expenses, helping them furnish a home and the funeral expenses of my mother in law Vicki Braswell.
Any and every donation will be appreciated beyond words. No help is too small. Funds will be deposited into my (Shannon Rush) bank account and distributed to the family immediately in cash to cover all the expenses they have endured. We thank God for you being a willing vessel to help our family begin to recover from these tragic losses.
