East Bay Educator In Need

Steve, and his wife Kelly, are veteran teachers who have served the families of the East Bay community for decades. Steven recently experienced an unexpected heart attack and multiple strokes that left him hospitalized and on a long road to recovery.

As Steven and his family start to heal, the medical bills not covered by medical insurance continue to mount. Please give back to these beloved educators who have devoted their hearts and lives to their students. Your kindness and generosity will be most appreciated.

Note from the family:

We are Steve and Kelly and we are both hard working east bay teachers. Steve is a diabetic, and works hard to maintain his health through eating and exercising. Even with all of this, his glucose levels were increasing, and he went to the doctors to determine what he could do to lower his blood sugar. Doctors recommended Jardiance. Five days after taking Jardiance, Steve was hospitalized from an adverse effect from Jardiance. Steve went into diabetic keto acidosis (DKA). Within hours of this, Steve suffered a heart attack from the stress on the heart and from the medication to help him with a heart attack suffered multiple strokes. After a week in the hospital in many tests, Steve was released from the hospital and will be going to physical and occupational therapy in order to regain full function. Even though we have medical insurance, this does not cover even a fraction of what this is going to cost and we will need some support to regain our footing.
