The ‘One Family One Bible’ project highlights the strength of Gods love within the Banyamulenge peoples heart to endure prolonged persecution. Despite their circumstances and the atrocities they continue to suffer their love for God does not diminish.
2 Corinthians 4:8-10:
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
The Banyamulenge are a Tutsi Community from Democratic Republic of the Congo’s neighbouring countries Burundi-Congo-Rwanda. For over three decades they are being fought, victimised, killed and displaced by a Coalition of militias drawn from multiple communities who consider themselves indigenous Congolese.
The result is deaths, victimisation and displacement which has lead to an extreme humanitarian crisis which aid groups are providing limited assistance.
Despite these atrocities and the desparate situation they find themselves the one thing the Banyamulenge who are 99% Christian miss in their lives are their bibles. They miss the comfort, strength and faith found in the word of God, they long to drawn upon it to make sense of their desperate situation.
The purpose of the ‘One Family One Bible’ project is to strenthen the Banyamulenge peoples hope in God by providing each family a BibliyaYera bible, starting with 5,000 families.
