Help Save My Smile ♡
Hi,
My name is Gabby,
I am not quite sure where to start.
In 2019 my dentist said I was beginning to start developing gum disease. I needed to have a gum evaluation which is not covered by the dental insurance I had at the time.
Gum Evaluation consists of measuring pockets between the tooth and the gum so when the yearly cleaning is due, they can clean in these pockets. This in turned created many cavities on all my teeth.
2020 at the beginning of the covid19 pandemic,
I developed 2 abscesses on my back mollars. I find out i wasnt covered by dental insurance because i lost my permanent position during the pandemic. I was a permanent employee but did not have a permanent position and lost all my benefits. Which Today I still don't understand.
My dentist gave me 17% discount to help me a little. It was cost 350$ each tooth too extract.
I started to stack up a long list of problems with my teeth because I didn't have dental insurance, I wasn't working enough hours, I wasn't payed a high wage. I was really struggling. I was in immense pain.
I started looking for solution. I went to the hospital to get treated by students but again all this costs money.
2020 in June my elderly dog got very sick and vets could not save his life. More money I did not have.
2021
Another abscessed tooth another extraction. I am still trying to survive, cost of life is going up. I can barely pay all my bills.
2023
I get 2 more abscesses. I change dentists. At this time I have new employment and new medical private insurance. I manage to save enough to get more extractions.
Today march 7th I had a full evaluation done at the dental clinic from saint-luc hospital.
My mouth is worse condition than I
thought. every single tooth has a cavity, many are mobile as well. my front top teeth have pretty big cavities which created holes. they are too far gone to be able to save them. putting a filling will not work and the tooth is too fragile to dp a root canal and will be too costly.
my bottom front teeth are wiggly and mobile because the gum has receded pretty badly.
After having a long discussion with the Doc, we came to the conclusion that I will need 15 teeth extracted. the hospital will give me a deal of 100$per tooth for 1500$.
bottom teeth, the doctor said that dentures don't stay well for the bottom mouth. they will use my canine and a mollar as anchor for the denture.
the canine and the mollar that will act as anchors have cavities that are fixable. they quoted 209$ per tooth.
I have tried everything, I called my bank for a loan and was refused because I don't make enough "income ". I am refused for credit card for the same reasons. I don't have anything of value to sell. I don't have family to help financially. I am on my own.
If you can help in any way, you would be helping to save my life.
I have come such a long way in my life...
I come from a very difficult background. I was a street kid, traveling, hitchhiking. I was a drug addict for a number of years.
I got clean and have been clean for over 14 years.
I have been doing a lot of community work in my area. I started a community fridge in my neighborhood to help feed people who need. I collect dog and cat food donations, clothing for men and women and distribute to those who desperately need.
I do so much for others that I often forget myself.
Starting this fundraiser is my last resort.
I don't have family that can help me financially, i dont have any credit to get a loan.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
