Ebony's Conquering Cancer Fund

This fundraiser is for Ebony Mekia, my best and dearest friend of 34 years. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this past December. She went for a routine exam and her doctor found a lump in her breast. After several ultrasounds and a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 ER/PR- positive breast cancer. Ebony has undergone several surgeries, 4 rounds of two different types of Chemotherapy and will soon need Radiation and Bi-lateral Mastectomy and Reconstruction surgery. Through it all, Ebony Mekia has remained strong and optimistic, but the fight is not over yet!

Ebony Mekia is a mother, sister, educator, and beloved friend to many. Unfortunately, she had to take unpaid medical leave from her work as an educator, a profession she has been dedicated to for over 15 years. In addition to her overwhelming medical expenses, there are also the financial household burdens she is dealing with. Her medical insurance covers some of the costs of her treatments, surgeries, and recovery, but not all. Those of us who love and know Ebony Mekia, also know that she has a dynamic nurturing spirit, exuberant personality, is independent, self sufficient and does not ask for help even when she needs it most! So, I am putting together this fundraiser to help Ebony Mekia get the financial support she deserves. Funds donated will go towards her medical expenses, recovery and living expenses while she continues to fight for her life! Thank you in advance for your support!
