Honoring Echo Brown
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cathy Mao and I am deeply saddened to share the devastating news that one of my dearest friends, Echo Brown, passed away this past Saturday, September 16, 2023. As many of you know, Echo suffered for over three years from Lupus-related kidney failure. She was the most beautiful soul I have ever met. As she said in her acknowledgements for her first book, she truly was “…the girl who never gives up, the girl who believed she could, so she did.” She suffered many setbacks, but she succeeded in ways that are beyond belief. Despite her illness and several weekly dialysis sessions that kept her alive, Echo continued to write and produce stories. And most importantly, she always made time to take care of and spend time with her parents. She recently took her father on a trip to visit caves and go horseback riding because she wanted him to experience the world.
Echo was in the process of moving forward with a live kidney donor when she passed away. (Our sincerest thank you to her donor).
I am raising money so Echo's family can honor her life with a funeral and reception, as well as cover burial costs, the cost of moving Echo's belongings and care for her beloved cat and kindred spirit and soulmate, Baba Baby, who was recently diagnosed with kidney failure. Echo also provided for her family in many ways including their life insurance so we’d like to make sure we can keep all those items in tact. Remaining funds will be given to Echo's mother to cover any additional unforeseen costs. Thank you for anything you can give to help honor Echo's memory and help her family through this incredibly difficult time of need.
