EcoGlamping in The Smokies
Donation protected
MoonMaid's Botanical Sanctuary is a 5 acre gem located in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Our mission is protecting and propagating endangered medicinal species like ginseng and wild yam. Our dream is to offer an Air B and B experience that will demonstrate how to live a very environmentally friendly life. This land is a "living classroom" complete with an extensive recycling system, composting system that includes all toilets and lessons on how to make "bio-degradable" affordable and easy.
From the moment you enter this sanctuary you are embraced by the sounds and splendor of this unique and magical spot in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This site offers dark night skys for stargazing, a spring fed pond alive with fish and frogs, a splendid rest in these quiet woods.
We are a member of the United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary Network and desire reach out to the hiking community by offering this unique experience. We also desire to impact our local community by working with schools, community organizations and local governments to teach the importance of protecting our native plants and how this action can also improve one's personal life. This "Eco glamping experience" will also offer massage therapy, classes on wild edibles, native medicinal plants and other useful herbs found in your own backyard. Leave your cares behind as you enter a magical space like no other.
Our slice of paradise has an incredible variety of endangered medicinal plants including ginseng, wild yam , black cohosh, bloodroot, trillium, and lady slippers. Each day is a new discovery with an everchanging display of flowers, tree and plants!!
With funds raised we will purchase and accomplish the following -
Yome - $4000.00
Yome set-up/Tree Clean-up - $3,000
When we achieve our campaign goal, we will have a drawing of all participants for a complete EcoGlamping Weekend Experience. Spring Equinox is our goal for our official opening and christening. Target date March 21, 2016.
