Lisa's Survival

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diana Schweninger. This is a story about my friend Lisa D'Addio. She has been my hairdresser and friend for 8 years. Lisa is a single mom who is raising her son, Greyson by herself. 2 years ago Lisa's mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Lisa struggled to take care of her mom while working full-time and taking care of her son. In 2021, Lisa's mom passed away. So that left Lisa with no extended family other than her son. Then Lisa decided to lose weight and started working out at a gym. She lost 30 pounds in the first 6 months of 2022. But then she started feeling very ill. She couldn't eat or drink anything without throwing up. She didn't have any health insurance, because she is a contract hairdresser and she didn't go to the doctor because she knew she couldn't afford the medical bills. That went on for roughly 3 months, so she went finally had no choice but to go to the doctor. They did a CT and found that between her esophagus and the opening of her stomach, was completely blocked by severe scar tissue due to acid reflux. Her doctor told her it was the worst case of gastritis he had ever seen in his entire career. Her doctor said this was all stress induced. By this time she had lost another 70 pounds due to not being able to eat or drink. Her potassium levels were extremely low by this point. Last Tuesday, January 1, 2023, she fainted, due to low potassium levels, and had to be rushed to UT Medical Center Hospital, Knoxville, TN. She then had emergency surgery and during the surgery, the doctors discovered a tumor in her stomach that the CT had not revealed. She ended up having 2/3's of her stomach removed and her intestines had to be rerouted. She is waiting on the biopsy results of the tumor as to rather or not it is cancer. I visited her in the hospital on January 7, 2023. Two hours after I left, I got word she was rushed back into surgery to fix a leak due to stitches pulling apart in her intestines. Lisa has not been able to work since the middle of November. She is afraid of losing her home, her car and everything she has worked so hard to have! She desperately needs financial help to help pay her monthly bills and her medical bills, which are going to be beyond her ability to pay. She will not be able to go back to work for at least 2 months and that's only if she isn't diagnosed with cancer, god forbid! I and everyone she knows are praying for her complete recovery every day. I need the good people of this great country to step up and help with any amount that you can give! You the public will have to become the extended family she needs! Please help Lisa survive this huge setback in her life!! Please link this GoFundMe page to your social media so I can help spread the word to help Lisa survive! Here is an update on her condition as of 01/10/2023. The doctor just came in and told her she has cancer and they have to start chemo right away! When I find out more, I will post updates!
