All donations will go towards the endowment of the Edward J. Gannon Memorial Award at Bellefonte High School. We have established this memorial award for a graduating lacrosse player who exemplifies Ed’s legacy– Love of Life, Love of Family, Love of Lacrosse, Compassion for Others and Volunteering with Passion.

Edward John Gannon, of Bellefonte, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. He was 58 years old. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Susan and children Alyssa and John Joseph (JJ) Nastase. Ed was a lifelong Penn Stater and spent his career in civil/structural engineering in various capacities. Not only was he our fun loving and outgoing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Ed was a passionate volunteer and a dedicated coach.
Ed had a passion for coaching youth lacrosse. During his 8 years of coaching, Ed served as head coach at Bellefonte High School, Bellefonte Middle School and Holo-lax. Ed’s easy coaching style influenced young athlete’s love of the game. His fatherly guidance coached them for life.
Ed was also heavily involved in the Special Olympics Pennsylvania for the past 20 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his volunteer work with the Special Olympics and recruited family and friends to get involved as well. His passion and enthusiasm was contagious to those around him. His love for helping others was genuine and he wanted every kid to have opportunities to succeed, feel special and be part of team.
A donation of any size can make a difference. Although Ed is gone, he will not be forgotten by those that love him. He will be remembered for his imposing stature, warm heart and endearing and silly sense of humor, as well as his affable nature and willingness to lend a hand. As a family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and generosity in helping Ed's legacy live on.
