Kory Koontz Accident

Kory and I have had a very difficult time with the thought of asking for help.  Pride can be a good thing until it stands in your way.  It’s been 9 days since this accident happened and with the urging of
friends, family and a lot of caring individuals.... we’ve realized that it’s ok to go ahead and do so.

This accident was the result of a careless driver who for whatever reason crossed the double yellow line and was moments from a head on collision with a one ton dually equipped with a solid custom grill guard pulling a 35’ trailer.
Clearly no chance of walking away from that.
The picture you see is a result of avoiding this individual.
Most definitely Kory’s decision to swerve across into the bar ditch saved her life and ended the life
of a VERY LOVED equine teammate and partner who suffered internal injuries.
I’ve had thoughts of how transparent I should be about our personal life and information about this... but we both have come to the conclusion that if people are going to donate their money .. they deserve to know where it’s going and why.
So with that being said....
This year.. financially...has been the worst in a 30 year career.  As a direct result..Kory was forced to let the insurance lapse ... all the
while “ hoping “ that rodeo would turn around.  He’s been covered his ENTIRE career.  
ALWAYS insured.
30 years worth and Oct 19th was the last day of coverage.  Less than 3 months later this catastrophic accident occurred.
The girl is denying the true story.
We are desperately seeking witnesses.
This reads like a fictional movie.... but it’s not.
It’s our reality.

Nothing was covered.
Not the truck. ($55,000 owed )
Not the trailer. ($88,000 owed )
Not the horses. ($15,000 for Rudy )

This doesn’t include the wrecker service... the loss of things inside the trailer or ongoing vet bills for the surviving horse Remix.

We can’t be more transparent than this.

This accident has been devastating and life changing.
