Edder Fundraiser

I am only 30 years old and most people think I look a lot younger. Testicular cancer is unusual for young men so most of the people at my doctor’s office think I am there to support a friend or parent. Most men with testicular cancer are many years older. 

 

When people realize I have cancer, they ask “why?” The doctors have asked me a million questions about my health and lifestyle to try to connect the dots, but nothing. Nothing explains how I got this. 

 

It all started for me about 18 months ago with terrible swelling. Doctors hadn’t really diagnosed what was wrong but performed one surgery to release fluid from the tissues. Four months later the swelling was back along with terrible pain. More tests. Another surgery and a tumor was removed. Then came another surgery for the surrounding skin. I have a lot of faith in my doctors. I pray they got all of the tumor out. 

 

I try very hard to stay positive. I think of it as putting on my “happy suit” because I really don’t want to bring anybody down.

It feels good to have support. I am so grateful to my brother, Galo, for taking me to my doctor appointments and helping me after the surgeries. I hope you will allow me to share my journey with you. I appreciate all the good wishes and love I have received already.
