Eddie Whitaker Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Randy Whitaker, brother to Eddie Whitaker, and I am raising funds to help support with medical expenses and other expenses related to Eddie’s care. As many of you are aware, but for those of you who are not, Eddie has been in ICU in excess of three weeks after becoming septic battling pneumonia. Although he has progressed favorably, he still has a ways to go before being moved out of ICU into a regular room. He also battles a rare disease called POEMS, which affects many other parts of the body and has no known cure. Eddie spent a month in Emory Hospital back in November before POEMS was finally diagnosed. He will also require chemotherapy treatment for this disease once all signs of pneumonia are cleared and he has regained strength, which will require additional time at Emory.

As you can imagine, the amount of expense associated with multiple long term hospital stays is exorbitant and although insurance will provide for most of the costs, it does not cover expenses associated with maintaining a home or expenses associated with food or trips made by his wife, Christy, to care for him.
