Ice Rescue Equipment-Eddington Fire
Donation protected
The Eddington Fire Department is seeking donations to purchase Ice Rescue equipment. Equipment we wish to purchase includes a Rescue Alive Sled (Cost $3,000), Ice rescue reel with rope (Cost $598 each, need 3), Water Rescue Helmets ($36 each), and Ice Rescue picks ($18 each).
Our area has several major bodies of water including Chemo Pond, Davis Pond, Parks Pond, Hopkins Pond, Springy Pond, Fitts Pond, Holbrook Pond, Hatcase Pond, and the Penobscot River. Then there are lots of small farm ponds too.
The Rescue Alive Sled enables rescuers to move across very thin ice by distributing his/her weight over a large surface area or to paddle through open water to reach a victim.
No fire department in our immediate area has a Rescue Alive Sled. Many departments across Maine have one and have found them to be a huge asset. We thank you for your consideration in helping us to fund this important project.
