Eden Safe Shelter in Myanmar

One of Eden's shelters has come under increasing threat as police and military snipers use buildings in the area to shoot protesters at random. Our program staff, who are all working in this shelter, are forced to climb over civilian barricades in order to get to and from work, all while the threat of Military and police abuse and gunfire persists. In the last week, several groups of soldiers have broken into houses in the area, and as you can imagine we are very worried for the safety of the girls. There is also no outside space or garden for those living at the shelter to benefit their mental health in this difficult time.

To ensure the wellbeing and safety of our staff and the women and girls we serve and to reduce this daily exposure to a highly stressful environment, Eden is planning to move our shelter service to a new location as soon as possible.  We have already found a great place and this area is very safe. Consequently, it is more expensive than our usual rental fees, but we feel it is vital to make this move as soon as possible.  We need your help to raise this money quickly.
