The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the needs of Edgewater residents and laid bare gross inadequacies in federal and local leadership, healthcare, and housing security.  Food, income, transportation, and medicine have become harder to access for residents who have lost their jobs or continue to work despite the risk of infection due to the lack of adequate sick-leave policies.  Through fundraising and outreach, we are hoping to build a network strong enough to support Edgewater residents through this crisis and come out stronger and better connected than ever before. 


All donated funds will go towards The Edgewater COVID-19 Mutual Aid Network: an all-volunteer, grassroots, neighborhood effort to provide critical relief and engage in mutual aid practices with the most vulnerable in our communities. We are prioritizing and building momentum with folks who are sick, disabled, quarantined without income, economically disadvantaged, elderly, undocumented, queer, Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color, or who have families in need. With your help, we'll be delivering groceries, prescriptions, homemade masks and other supplies during this crisis to those unable to leave their homes, as well as to those who are houseless. In addition, we are organizing with existing movements in housing insecurity and prison abolition to best support our community and to provide legal resources to those in need of them.

La pandemia de COVID-19 está afectando a los residentes de Edgewater y resaltando los problemas que ya existían con nuestros líderes locales, servicios de salud y vivienda. Ahora es más difícil tener acceso a medicamentos, alimentos o ingresos para todos nuestros residentes. Algunos han perdido su trabajo y otros continúan trabajando, pero poniéndose en riesgo de contagio, ya que no cuentan con la posibilidad de tomar días por enfermedad. A través de nuestros esfuerzos para reunir fondos y promover colaboración, queremos construir una comunidad lo suficientemente fuerte para apoyar a los residentes de Edgewater durante esta crisis. Esperamos que nuestros esfuerzos logren conectarnos y fortalecernos más que nunca.


Todos los fondos recolectados serán destinados a la Red de Ayuda Mutua de Edgewater para COVID-19: Un esfuerzo del vecindario compuesto completamente por voluntarios y organizado por vecinos, para prestar soporte a los más vulnerables de nuestras comunidades y ayudarnos mutuamente entre nosotros. En este momento estamos priorizando ayudar a aquellos que están enfermos, en cuarentena y sin ingresos, en desventaja económica, con discapacidad, ancianos y con familias en necesidad. También tienen prioridad los miembros de nuestras comunidades de inmigrantes, LGBT, indígenas y personas de color. Con tu ayuda, haremos entregas de alimentos, medicación, máscaras y otros recursos a aquellos que no pueden salir de casa y a quienes no tienen casa durante la crisis. Además, nos estamos organizando junto a movimientos que ya están luchando por seguridad de vivienda y reforma penal, para dar apoyo a nuestra comunidad y prestar recursos legales a quienes los necesiten.

Pandemija COVID-19 je povećala  potrebe stanovnika Edgewater-a i pokazala velike problemi u saveznom i lokalnom vodstvu, zdravstvu i sigurnosti stanovanja. Hrana, prihod, prijevoz i lijekovi postali su teži za pristup stanovnicima koji su izgubili posao ili nastavljaju raditi uprkos riziku od zaraze zbog nedostatka odgovarajućih politike. Kroz prikupljanje sredstava i dostignuće, nadamo se da ćemo izgraditi koaliciju da podržimo stanovnike Edgewater-a kroz ovu krizu i da izđemo jači i bolje povezani nego ikad prije.


Sve će ići prema mreži zajednički pomoći Edgewater COVID-19: sve dobrovoljni radnici, lokalni pokušaji da pruže kritičnu pomoć i uključe se u prakse međusobne pomoći sa najugroženijima u našim zajednicama. Mi dajemo prioritet ljudima koji su bolesni, invalidi, karantenirani bez primanja, ekonomski ugroženi, stariji, nedokumentirani, neredoviti, crni, starosjedioci i / ili ljudi u boji ili koji imaju porodice u potrebi. Uz vašu pomoć, dostavit ćemo namirnice, recepte, domaće maske i druge potrepštine tokom ove krize onima koji ne mogu napustiti svoje domove, kao i onima koji su bez kuće.
