Living Walls and the Edgewood One Neighborhood Association are thrilled to present the "I AM MINE / WE ARE OURS - LIMITLESS TRANSFORMATION" mural project. Situated within the Arizona and Dekalb Avenue Underpass, this public art exhibition, curated by local artist Drew Borders, stands as a testament to the power of creativity and collective vision.
"I AM MINE / WE ARE OURS - LIMITLESS TRANSFORMATION" serves as a platform for six exceptionally talented women and nonbinary artists, each contributing their unique perspective on themes of identity, resilience, and radical love. Through their work, they invite viewers to contemplate the transformative potential of art and its ability to foster connection and understanding.
In addition to the aesthetic enhancement brought forth by these remarkable murals, the project endeavors to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of our community. To this end, we have installed bright lights within the underpass, illuminating not only the artwork but also creating a safer space at night.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Council Member Liliana Bakhtiari, Marta Artbound, Columbia Ventures and community members for their generous support in making this project a reality.
As we progress into the next phase of our initiative, our focus turns toward the preservation and longevity of these invaluable murals. The installation of gutters along the bridge's perimeter is essential to safeguarding the murals from environmental degradation. The estimated cost for this crucial undertaking is $8000.
We humbly look to our community for assistance in raising the necessary funds to complete this vital aspect of the project. Your contribution, whether large or small, will play a pivotal role in ensuring that these beautiful murals remain intact for years to come.
Together, let us continue to cultivate a more vibrant and inclusive Atlanta with public art that is maintained for years to come. Thank you for your ongoing support.
