Edina United Methodist Church Project
Donation protected

Above is the proposed new structure for the First United Methodist Church in Edina City, Liberia, West Africa, later known as the T.J. King United Methodist Church. The old church structure which was built in 1833, was poorly renovated a couple of years ago. They completely changed the architectural outlook, and apparently used “inferior materials” during the renovation. They removed the “upper balcony “and the “support beams” which supported the building structure for over one hundred and eighty years. To date, the current building is caving in and falling to the ground. The roof is leaking constantly, and the ceiling is falling. Hence, any renovation will show no significant improvement and durability. I must note that it was this church family that nurtured me and many others who resided in Edina while I was growing up. We sang in the children's choir, participated in services, programs, among other activities hosted by this church.
On this note, we cannot stand by and let this all-important historical church go down… It is against this backdrop; we are embarking on an endeavor to build a new church edifice. The new structure will provide a safe haven for the community and nurture a new generation of leaders and believers. We are asking all of you to please click our “go fund me banner” and make your donations today. Also, please feel free to share it and encourage others to make donations. You will be proud you did, and you will obtain bountiful blessings from our Lord and Savior.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new structure is scheduled for November 29, 2020, and the building is expected to be completed within a year or less thereafter. The total budget for this all-important project is about $100,000.00 (US). Following a request from the church’s leadership team, my dear friend and brother Emmanuel Nuku Reeves and I, Calvin R. Johnson, have agreed to serve as co-chairs of the diaspora building/finance sub-committee to raise funds and coordinate with the building contractors to ensure the successful construction of the new church. Meanwhile, Mr. Augustus Crusoe and Austin Spiller are heading the overall endeavors from the local church.
If you need additional information or prefer to make donation in privacy, please feel free to call or email me at any time. Thank you and may God richly bless all of you. Meanwhile, you can also visit our FaceBook Page at:
