Dear Supporters,
We are the Tiger Rescue Team, a passionate group of students and Teacher Leaders at Edison High School, embarking on a remarkable journey to redefine the way our school - and our community - addresses the pressing issue of stray cats.
In our midst are these incredible creatures, known as community cats, or feral cats. They roam our campus, our neighborhoods, and our city streets, without a place to call home. Too often, they're seen as nuisances to be eradicated by pest control measures. But we refuse to accept this outdated approach.
We believe in a different path - one of compassion, understanding, and proactive care. That's why we're reaching out to you for your support.
Our challenges are significant, but so is our determination. We urgently need assistance in arranging appointments for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) procedures, a humane method provided by incredible non-profit organizations dedicated to the well-being of community cats. Additionally, we require resources for food, enclosures, and sanctuary spaces. These vital supplies include everything from cat trees and perches to bedding and continuous feeders.
Our goal is to establish a safe and comfortable sanctuary for our central colony of 10-12 community cats. These cats have already undergone TNR procedures, including vaccinations, rabies shots, and medications. However, their current location beneath a classroom portable no longer suits their needs.
By creating a permanent sanctuary, we're not just providing shelter for these cats; we're fostering a sense of compassion and empathy within our school community. This initiative extends beyond our campus, transcending boundaries to inspire change in our wider community.
It's essential to note that California law protects community cats, granting them the right to live and move freely. Any harm inflicted upon them, whether adults or kittens, is considered animal cruelty. We're proud to stand up against such practices, advocating for kindness and respect towards all living beings.
Join us in this noble cause. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable creatures and cultivate a culture of empathy and responsibility within our school and beyond.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Warm regards,
Tiger Rescue Team, Edison High School
