Cancer Treatment Costs For Edith Vanderwal

On March 9TH Edith was watching her son’s soccer game in Aberdeen and fell down a set of bleachers. After trying to power through the pain and passing out twice she ended up seeking help at the ER. They did a CT scan and confirmed that Edith had broken her back in 3 different locations, fractured her pelvis and fractured her shoulder. In addition, the CT scan revealed that our sweet friend has Cancer.

Oncology has confirmed a diagnosis of stage 4 breast Cancer that has spread to her bones. The Cancer is HER2 Positive, and it is aggressive. Her first chemo treatment was on Monday. Her out-of-pocket expense for that visit alone is estimated at over $2,200 and she has 5 additional Chemotherapy visits currently scheduled. She has been told that she will likely have to continue some type of treatment for the rest of her life. She has an appointment with UW Medical tomorrow to find out more about what if anything can be done for her fractures.

As anyone can imagine this is all devastating and overwhelming for Edith and her family. It has been a whirlwind and the medical expenses are already stacking up.

We are hoping that this Go-Fund Me can help lessen the financial burden she is up against and allow all of her focus to go towards HEALING! Her mindset and spirit are so STRONG!
