Janice's Bone Marrow Transplant

On behalf of Janice and Jeff, I’d like to tell you a story of family, healing, and a love between two people that most wait a lifetime for.

 

Janice was diagnosed with primary myelofibrosis in May of 2015. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment and receiving biweekly blood transfusions, but her condition has worsened. Her doctors have decided to begin a more aggressive treatment involving a bone marrow transplant.

 

Janice has an exact match…her sister, who lives in the Philippines with their mother. Her sister needs to get to the US in order to give Janice a life-saving bone marrow donation, however between visa costs, plane tickets, and medical bills, it’s too much to afford. Janice also wants her mother by her side as Jeff goes back to work. We’d like to do anything we can to ease the financial burden on this beautiful couple and their family.

 

In 2015, mutual friends hatched a plan to introduce Jeff and Janice at a party. Jeff worked long hours, and Janice was nervous he wouldn’t show, but those feelings were soon put to rest when a handsome man walked through the doors. Their friends introduced them, and it didn’t take long to realize they had a special connection.

 

Due to their work schedules, they couldn’t see each other for a month after the night they met, but they called and texted every day. Once their work schedules calmed down, though, not even the hour drive between their homes kept them from seeing each other almost daily.

 

As they fell in love, Janice’s health began to decline, and she found out in May of 2015 that she had primary myelofibrosis. Janice knew she had to tell Jeff about her health, knowing that it may push him away.

 

After telling Jeff of her diagnosis, the two went to Palmetto’s Green Bridge where Jeff got down on one knee and proposed to her, ensuring her he would stick with her through the good times and bad. Since then, Janice has continued to fight with Jeff by her side.

 

Janice is a physical therapist who loves working with her patients, allowing them to live healthy lives. She deserves the same thing – a long, healthy life with Jeff by her side. A bone marrow transplant will give her the best shot at that.
