Dear Family and Friends,

Whether you know him as BJ, Ed, or Professor/Mr. Ed, he needs your help with medical expenses as he battles cancer. BJ was diagnosed with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer) at the beginning of March 2024. He began immunotherapy soon thereafter while working as a professor. After completing the spring semester, his health deteriorated, forcing him to apply for short-term disability. Since that time, BJ underwent a series of immunotherapy treatments, multiple hospitalizations, and a gamma knife radiation procedure. He continues to experience many complications associated with cancer. His journey is far from over.

BJ spent most of his professional career as a professor of economics for many different colleges and universities, including UTSA, TCU, Alvin Community College, and Collin College. He taught countless undergrads and high school students the intricacies and complexities of macro and microeconomics. His dedication and devotion to his students is unparalleled. He genuinely lights up a room when he instructs his students. Students, colleagues, and friends know him for his kindness and generosity.

Despite his great efforts and support from close family, BJ needs financial assistance to pay for medical bills, insurance copayments, travel, home healthcare, and medications. Currently, his wife, Bekah, is his sole caretaker as he is currently bedbound. Please make any donation you can to assist BJ and Bekah through this difficult time.

We will continue to post updates here as BJ receives treatment during the coming months and years. Thank you for your love and support!

All donations will go directly to BJ and Bekah.
