Based in Dublin City Centre, the Edmund Rice Camps are a bi-annual week-long summer camp for children between the ages of 8 and 12 from underprivileged and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. These children are predominately from Dublin 1 and 3. Our aim is to offer these children a wide range of activities, including - day trips and outings, sports, art, drama, and more - completely free of charge.
The summer camps are organised and run by young volunteers between the ages of 17 and 25, mostly from Dublin 1, 3, 5 and 9. This year, we are aiming to run two week-long summer camps, one in the first week of July and the other in the first week of August. However, this is not set in stone, and of course is restriction-dependent.
As you can understand, COVID-19 has had a vast impact on our organisation, especially in the area of fundraising, with the virus posing many roadblocks to us achieving our minimum requirement of €3,000 to run the weeks of camp. To this end, we are appealing in the hope that you may be able to help us in achieving our fundraising goal, with the view to providing these children with the best two weeks we can. All monies contributed will be transferred to a dedicated bank account and will solely be used for camp necessities e.g., lunches for children, transport to and from trips, materials for activities, etc.
We are asking you to donate anything you can - no amount is too big or too small. If you are not in a position to donate, a share on your social media pages is appreciated just as much!
